I really wanted to like Wema Bank, especially because of the ALAT app, but it’s been disappointing. The app looks nice, but it lags a lot and sometimes logs me out randomly. I've had failed transactions that took days to reverse, and no real explanation from support.
The customer service isn’t responsive messages get ignored or you’re asked to “be patient” without any solution. Even in-branch service can be slow and unorganized.
It feels like they’re trying to be a digital bank, but the technical issues and poor communication make it hard to rely on them for serious banking.
Went to POS to withdraw. Unfortunately Wema Bank network was bank.. The money was deducted and The pos operator said he didn't see the money that I will have to wait till my bank reverse it... It took up to two weeks before It was reversed.. They need to work on their network and improve on reversing people money in time...
One thing I appreciate about Wema Bank is how easy they make saving. The ALAT app has savings goals, automated contributions, and even interest! It's helped me stay disciplined with money, and that’s something most banks don’t offer in a simple way
ALAT by Wema is very innovative – it’s Nigeria’s first fully digital bank and makes account opening, savings, and transfers very easy.
The app interface is clean and user-friendly. Great for young people who want quick banking.
Zero paperwork for most banking needs – you can open and fund an account, create virtual dollar cards, and manage savings all from your phone.
Good customer support via the app and social media – responses are often fast.
Wema offers competitive interest rates on savings and fixed deposits.
I left Nigeria 2 weeks ago; and I have been able to use my ALAT by Wema Card in South Africa. The sweetest part is, I didn’t have to notify the bank Before leaving . Just a tweak in my app and boom! I’m withdrawing internationally. I’m so impressed
